Eric Clapton Demystifies Three Decades Of Solo Work


Dallas, TX - April 29, 2015. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the solo career of Eric Clapton spotlighted in the newly released retrospective Forever Man.

This exclusive interview with Eric Clapton covers a lot of ground simply because no matter what era or decade you pick since 1965, Eric Clapton was there in a remarkably consistent and influential way. From Yardbirds to John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, from Cream to Blind Faith with Steve Winwood, to Derek and the Dominos, Clapton seemed to love collaborating in bands. And yet he has made a long string of mostly highly-regarded solo albums, as well, dating back to his first in 1970.

In part one of the two-part InTheStudio radio special, Eric Clapton discusses the thirty year period covered by the new multi-disc anthology Forever Man, exploring such topics as trading in his longtime band on 1985‘s Behind the Sun sessions for a West Coast group of studio all-stars headed up by fellow Brit Phil Collins.

Eric’s musical genius is not only defined by his guitar virtuosity, but also by his keen ear for the right songs to record and make his own. Clapton shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard his thoughts on covering the music of other songwriters.

“The best covers should be better than the originals... What’s the point unless you can improve it?...If you’re paying a tribute it’s really got to be better, or an advancement, or a kind of evolution of what was originally there.”

Ich habe mal bei Spotify durchgehört, die Version "Cocaine" war mir nicht so bekannt, das könnte die einzige Rarität sein. Leider. Aber ansonsten irgendwann im Regal ist sicher.
